A magnificent vintage to mark 15 years since the Lorenzetti family landed at Château Lilian Ladouys to launch their Medoc adventure.
Meticulous monitoring – a constant combat
The 2023 vintage was a masterclass in vineyard protection. High mildew pressure from early spring was not helped by unpredictable, stormy weather. It was a constant combat in the vineyard, in this the last year of organic conversion, which was only made possible through our dedicated, skilful and ever-responsive teams. This also bodes well for the future, confirming our ability to protect the vines and nurture the fruit to optimum ripeness in extremes of climate.
Harvesting on order
It was hot and sunny towards the end of summer, resulting in an exceptional harvest, the longest – and most intense – in the estate’s history. Over the course of 16 days, our patience was tested to the limits while we awaited optimum ripeness and ideal balance in each grape variety and plot.
Harvest 18 September to 5 October.
Authentic style
2023 is a typical ‘Saint-Estephe’ vintage in which Lilian Ladouys’ hallmark identity truly shines. The crunchy, juicy Merlots are backed by deep, dense Cabernets, revealing a complete, delicious fresh wine of superb length. Ageing will further enhance its charm and exquisite generosity.
